Course Description: Learn the history of the world from the earliest writing and archeology down to the present day. Understand the overarching themes of human civilization, and learn to tell the interconnected story of how we got from there to here. Special attention will be given to changes in historical method and worldview, how this produces multiple interpretations of the same history, and how this impacts our view of God and His church. Students will complete a basic high school level text, which provides a high level overview of history. Assignments will involve reading primary source material and academic-level secondary sources, and learning to thoughtfully respond to them. Students will learn how to get the most out of their library, how to perform historical research, and how to prepare work which can be included in a portfolio for admissions or scholarship purposes.
This class will include a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts! Details will be finalized later in the year.
