Responsibilities

Parents provide the teacher pool. If not enough parents volunteer to teach classes at any grade level, those classes will not be offered. Two parents may elect to team teach a class. Each class is assigned a teacher and at least one helper to ensure that two adults per class are available. The Leadership Team makes the final determination regarding teachers and helpers.

Co-op does not employ parents of kids participating. Indeed, we often refer to teachers as “facilitators” because they facilitate the education, whereas parents remain the primary teachers of their children. Facilitators volunteer their time and expertise free of charge; they may be certified teachers or parents with a degree, knowledge or passion for a subject.
