CO-OP

NELCHA Co-op is a sub-group of the Northeast Louisiana Homeschool Christian Association that was established in August 2006. We have three locations for co-op.  The West Monroe group meets on Tuesdays at Cedar Crest Baptist Church, the Monroe Group meets on Mondays at Victory Baptist, and the Farmerville Group meets on Fridays at Crestview Baptist.  Co-op was founded by homeschool parents exclusively for homeschool children in Northeast Louisiana.  It is our desire for families to unite in the education of their children as unto the Lord.  Students are encouraged in a Biblical world view and are given opportunities not only academic in nature, but spiritual, social and emotional.  Parents share homeschooling concepts, special skills and talents, and various curriculum as they teach the students at co-op.

Everyone involved in co-op has the opportunity for growth and encouragement through the experience of parents and students alike.  You may join when your oldest child is at least five years old.  It’s co-operative teaching and learning! Responsibilities are shared equally in order for co-op to function at its optimum. Unlike public and private schools, parents do not drop off students for the day, but remain at co-op as an integral part of their education and that of other students.

There are many ways parents may participate in co-op, such as teaching, co-teaching, being a class helper, and cleaning. Students are required to attend a minimum of two consecutive class hours in order to participate.  Membership in co-op is a responsibility that requires sincere commitment. Please read all the information provided on the website, and prayerfully consider whether or not participation in co-op is the right decision for you and your family.
