Mrs. Laura Ortega To All Instructors
Laura is a graduate of Northwestern College, Iowa where she graduated with a Spanish and Elementary Education bachelors degree. As part of the program, she studied abroad in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua. She has returned three times to Costa Rica with her parents, brother, and most recently a group of high school students. Through these travels, Laura was connected with her now husband who was born and raised in Ecuador. They have 3 beautifully and wonderfully made children of God, who have grown up learning Spanish and Ecuadorian customs. They have spent a summer as a family in Ecuador as well.
Laura spent 4 years teaching Elementary Spanish in Waconia before moving closer to home, where she taught Spanish I, II, and III for 5 years at Buffalo High School. Laura chose to remain home with her 3 young children in 2020 and even homeschooled them for some time. They now attend a Christian school, and Laura is excited to have the opportunity to teach Spanish again and support your child's learning. For Laura, Spanish is more than a language, it's understanding people, too.
