FACILITATORS
Parents are the main educators of their children. The role of our facilitators is to aid in the student's learning experience by offering instruction in the facilitator's area of expertise. All content taught will be within the framework of a Biblical worldview. Facilitators will provide a syllabus for each class they are facilitating which will show what will be covered in the class along with homework assignments. Communication with parents regarding lesson plans and class material is to take place outside of class time. facilitators will provide quizzes or tests for the subjects where content needs to be mastered through memory rather than performance. Minimal class time will be spent taking tests. Some tests will be sent home for the parents to proctor. Facilitators will provide a point and/or percentile evaluation mid-semester and at the end of each semester. The parents then assign a letter grade as they see fit or the class. If a facilitator needs to cancel one class due to death of a family member, facilitator hospitalization or jury duty, he/she will contact his/her students with necessary assignments for making up lessons. If a facilitator is ill, he/she will provide a qualified substitute facilitator. If a qualified substitute facilitator is not provided, the facilitator will communicate the assignments to each student.
PARENTS
Parents are responsible for the supervision of coursework and final assignment of grades. It is expected that parents will review all work prior to submission, ensuring it is of high quality, as free as possible from errors, and on time. It is expected that parents will consult with their students regularly to ensure due dates are beign met. Remember that PATH is providing facilitation, not full oversight of your entire week academically. We rely on parents to ensure there is quality, understanding, and on-time submission of all work. Facilitators are not the full time teachers of your class, but there to provide structure, encouragement, and accountability. The includes ensuring their student is completing and turning in the homework assignments the facilitator requires unless discussed with the facilitator and providing any additional assistance necessary for the completion of the coursework. The parents and students and responsible to work with the facilitator regarding any missed work or tests. Parents are responsible to have the students arrive on time.
Some parents will slowly turn over management of assignments, due dates, and course work to their students over time to prepare them for PSEO. This is recommended in the second semester of a students 10th grade year and beyond, but not prior. Every student is different, and we understand that. Facilitators will reach out to parents immediately if there are issues with turning in work, work quality, or focus/concentration or behavior issues in class.
Parents will also serve as parent monitors up to three days during the school year to assist with requirements from our facility in terms of monitoring student safety. A volunteer link will be sent out in the summer months.
?STUDENTS
Students are to arrive promptly and be prepared for class. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start time as we only have 5 minutes between classes, and it is vital they start on time without interruption. Students are to complete the coursework at home so as not to prevent the facilitator from maintaining the planned course of study. Students are to be attentive in class and understand that participation is a privilege, not a right. Students are required to sign and maintain the code of conduct. Students are to comply with each facilitator's classroom expectations with the understanding that there will be variances between classes.
