Application Period
Our application period for the 2025-2026 year is from February 1 - March 10, 2025.
This is the only application period currently planned for the 2025-26 school year. We occasionally hold an additional application period in the summer and/or fall.
You will find the application for the next school year on our website in early February. We hold two open houses as part of our application process. It is mandatory to attend one open house before submitting an application. This year our open houses are Monday, March 3 and Monday, March 10. Applications for the fall semester are due Monday, March 10.
Please let us know you’re coming to the Open House. See details and how to RSVP below.
Answers to many of your questions about our co-op can be found on this page and especially in FAQs.
Thank you for your interest in HSC!
Application Processing
HSC gives special intentionality toward high school academics while offering quality academic and extracurricular classes for students of all ages.
In the application process, we take many factors into consideration, including student ages, the ability to fulfill needed jobs, and how much space is available in each grade level. To apply, your oldest child must be at least 5 years old and generally ready for the kindergarten level by September 1.
Co-op Commitment
Please read our approach to co-op service by clicking Your Co-op Service. Indicate your job preferences on the application. Space is limited and we are looking for members who can contribute to specific needs. So, please fill this section in carefully and completely.
Although we have many types of jobs at HSC, all co-op members are expected to be willing to teach at some point in their HSC ‘career.’ With more than a hundred course offerings and the majority of our jobs being teaching, we need all hands on deck!
LINK status is for high school students of families experiencing hardship and does not require parents to serve in co-op jobs. LINK is a way for HSC to support families during crises in the hopes of offering a small bridge back to stability. Others will be considered as space allows. Because our LINK openings are limited (approximately 10 students) and LINK status requires reapplying each year, families are encouraged to apply for co-op membership if at all possible.
Class Offerings
Our Current Classes document lists our classes and any fees associated with them. This will give you an idea of the kinds of classes we offered Fall 2024. Also, our Sequence Subjects page explains how we offer courses in literature, history, and science on a regular cycle and lists other classes we try to offer yearly. Fall 2025 Class lists will be posted in June.
Homeschooling for High School
Each year, people contact us who are thinking of home schooling a high school student for the first time. We offer a helpful document titled "High School at Home".
Fees
$50/child (ages 1+) fall registration fee less the $10 application fee is due upon acceptance. Submitting the registration fee secures your spot. Registration fees are non-refundable after you have accepted our offer of membership.
If you are accepted as LINK, an additional $400/student LINK fee is required and will be non-refundable after submitted for Fall Semester. Additional per student LINK fee plus per child registration fees are due in November for Spring Semester.
Class fees vary depending on what classes you sign up for. To get a feel for what your costs might be, go to Current Classes and create a mock lineup of classes; then, add up the costs.
Open House
As noted above, attending an Open House is required prior to submitting an application. Reserve a spot by filling out the Open House RSVP (link coming soon!)
On the day of your open house, meet at Calvary Bible Church, 8318 Carpenter Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197 at 10 AM (9:30 if you have a middle/high school student visiting a second hour class) and look for “Open House” signs and balloons. Click here for directions, and park near the doors with a Main Entrance sign.
At the Open House, you’ll hear a presentation and go on a tour. Please plan to attend for the whole two hours. This is an important time for us to meet you and will give you a better feel for the program and our community.
The open house meeting and tour is only for adults. However, we strongly encourage your middle and high school students to visit classes while you meet with our team. Student must be currently 6th grade level or above. We cannot accommodate younger students in classes. Look at the Open House Class Options (link coming soon!) and let us know in advance on your RSVP which classes you want your middle/high school students to attend. We will need to know which classes they will visit by Friday evening, February 28 or Friday evening, March 7.
Please do NOT bring elementary and pre-elementary students to the open house. Infants are welcome if you don’t think they will be a distraction.
Steps to Membership
(1) Carefully read all the useful information on our website.
(2) Attend an Open House before applying. This is required before we will review your application. Please DO NOT submit an application before the meeting. Some applicants desire to revise or add more to their application after talking with us. Open house dates and the RSVP link are posted above.
(3) Submit your application and non-refundable $10 application fee by the deadline. A family photo must also be submitted as part of your application.
(4) We will review your application and start the background check process. Details are in the application.
(5) Upon acceptance, submit $50/child (ages 1+) fall registration fee less your $10 application fee. Paying the registration fee secures your spot and is non-refundable after you have accepted our offer of membership.
Note: If accepted as LINK, your $400/student LINK fee for Fall Semester is non-refundable. Additional per student LINK fee plus per child registration fees are due in November for Spring Semester. LINK is for high school students of families experiencing hardship and does not require parents to serve in co-op jobs. Additional LINK details are provided later in this application.
Every effort is made to keep all applicant and member information private and secure.
Click here to access the HSC online application after March 3rd. Application is not available yet. You must attend an open house before submitting.
Note: The application is a Google form. When you fill out a Google Form in your Google account, your progress is automatically saved as a draft for 30 days. This means if you can't complete a form or need to switch devices, you don’t have to start over the next time you open the form. Important: If you’re offline, autosave doesn’t work.
Coming soon: To view a PDF of the application for reference only, click here.
