Homeschool Groups in the Champaign-Urbana area:
Christian Homeschool Connection is a faith-based group of homeschoolers in the Champaign-Urbana area with an active forum and FB group. Activities include picnics, field trips, mom's night out, ice skating, Krannert Center shows, etc. The forum is a great place to start a small, informal co-op... offer to teach a subject in your home and hear about others teaching small groups of kids in their homes.
Faith & Reason is a classical education community open to all families. Our goal is to provide accountability, fellowship and flexibility through a variety of classes in order to help your family successfully homeschool. We offer humanities (literature, history, logic, debate), math, science, Latin and Catholic theology for students in grades 7-12, English grammar and writing for grades 4-6 and a morning progralm for Prd-K4 through 6th with music, art, science & memory work. The Family Center is a Thursday morning co-op affiliated with Christian Homeschool Connection (CHC) which meets in Champaign at Stratford Park Bible Chapel for 12 weeks each fall and spring. New families can join in the fall and spring. Parents teach classes based on their interests or help out in various classrooms. While classes are available for preschool through high school, families must have a child kindergarden age or older to join.
Cornerstone Christian Homeschoolers is an enrichment group for homeschooled students in 7th - 12th grades. Each student's parents plan one activity per year. Cornerstone meets Thursday afternoons September - May.
The Horizon Homeschool Co-op is a Christian homeschool co-op that meets on Thursday afternoons from September - May for students from Kindergarden - 6th grade. Classes include art, P.E. and unit studies. Parents help out in the classroom approximately 4 times per year.
HC2 - Horizon Home Educators Coop has a junior and senior high extension called HC2 for students who have graduated from Horizon Coop. HC2 meets three times per month for fellowship and to participate in different unit studies. For more information, email tracyrodriquez@gmail.com.
House - House is a non-sectarian group that offers playdates and other events.
Classical Conversations communities meet weekly to support parents in providing a classical and Christian education to their children. There are communities in Champaign, Mahomet, Monticello and Danville.
