Detailed Instructions
As classes end, remind students that cleanup is their responsibility and encourage them to pitch in.
Students are expected to assist with the cleanup of all PHS spaces, not just their own fourth-period classroom.
Students are the experts in cleanup as they are at PHS every week, while most Onsite Volunteers are at PHS just a couple of times a semester. Please allow our students the space to be the experts that they are — but also encourage them as needed.
Students may not leave until cleanup is complete.
Student Cleanup Setup
-
After class ends in the Fellowship Hall:
-
Wedge open the west door from the north hallway into the Fellowship Hall.
-
Walk to the other side of the Fellowship Hall and open both doors to the storage room fully.
-
You’ll need to locate the door wedge to hold open the north door but the south door has a functioning doorstop that you can drop.
-
-
Pull off the flat magnet or blue tape from the storage room latch.
-
While you are inside the Fellowship Hall, remove the following signs:
- the Do Not Close Fully sign from the south door to the storage room

-
-
After class ends in each classroom, set out:
- cleanup guides
- paper towels
- all-purpose cleaner
- whiteboard cleaner
Set these out next to each Cleanup Kit so that they are both visible and easily accessible.
Guides are specific to each room and include a diagram of the church’s preferred furniture arrangement for the room and a checklist of tasks to be completed by students.
